Training Bureau

The Training Bureau is the unit within the department responsible for the upkeep of our officers' training and certifications with the State of Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council (POSTC). It plans and coordinates the quarterly training all New Britain officers must attend as well as the distribution of exterior schooling for officers and maintains all officers' training records as well.
 
The Training Bureau is currently staffed by one sergeant and three officers with many of our officers in other assignments acting as adjunct instructors.
 
The Training Bureau is also responsible for administering the New Britain Police Academy, with assistance from in-house instructors and many others. The academy is responsible for training recruits to become certified officers not only from New Britain, but from other jurisdictions as well.
