Patrol Division
The backbone of any police department is the patrol, or uniform division. These are the officers who come when you dial 911 and are ready to respond to the various situations police face every day. These range from the missing child, to the man with a gun, to the loud music complaint and everything in between.
Our patrol officers are on duty 24 hours a day and 7 days a week "In Partnership with the Community." The officers of the patrol division use cruisers, bicycles, motorcycles, and unmarked cars to accomplish their task of keeping you safe and deterring crime.
Patrol officers answer these calls for service and take appropriate action. Sometimes this means an arrest, but more often than not it means referring persons with a particular problem to the agency or person that can best help them. Sometimes, no matter how hard or how much we try to help someone, the only way they'll get the help they need is after they're arrested. In these as in all cases, we deal with these persons in a professional, humane, and impartial manner.
The Division Commander is Captain Matthew Butkiewicz. He can be reached at (860) 826-3060.
