Message to the Community

The New Britain Police Department is committed to improving the quality of life in all of our great city’s neighborhoods. As an agency we work together as a team to partner with the community to address the concerns of the city. We do this one neighborhood at a time. Every neighborhood is a vital part of our great city. The New Britain Police Department is committed to working together with you, the citizens of New Britain, to improve the quality of life and reduce crime in our community. This is accomplished only through the building of partnerships between the police department and the citizens we serve. The success of the agency in achieving its goals is dependent on community input and support.

I believe Sir Robert Peel said it best in the 1800's when he stated “The police are the public and the public are the police.” The goals of the New Britain Police Department are the same as the goals of the community. It is altogether appropriate then to come together in our efforts to achieve those goals. In doing so we will be working together to bring about a better and safer community for our families to live in and enjoy all the city has to offer.

The New Britain Police Department continues to be an agency the whole community can be proud of. The New Britain Police Department has been nationally recognized for its leadership in Digital Forensics and Polygraph. The Department’s leadership regionally in SWAT, K9, and its Motorcycle Unit are just other examples of the professionalism of the fine officers serving the city. I remain committed alongside every officer in the New Britain Police Department to continue to look for ways to improve ourselves and to better our service to the community.

Mission Statement

It is the mission of the New Britain Police Department to provide excellent Policing through Innovation, Integrity, and Building Partnerships with the Community to protect life and property, to prevent crime, and improve the quality of life in our city.
